Emiko Atherton will discuss how to create better transportation networks. She is the director of the National Complete Streets Coalition at Smart Growth America. Everyone should have safe, comfortable, and convenient access to community destinations and public places. Atherton’s approach integrates people and place in the design and operation of an area’s transportation network. This helps to ensure streets are safe for people of all ages and abilities, balance the needs of different modes, and support local land uses, economies, cultures, and natural environments.
