Trailside Bike Repair Workshop at REI May 8, 6 pm

Don't let a surprise on the trail cancel your ride! Before you hit a snag on your next ride, learn to basics of trailside repair so you're not left out and unprepared. Join REI's expert bike techs for this hands-on workshop addressing the most common trailside issues. Busted chains, noisy drivetrains, and broken spokes are all on the agenda with plenty of get-your-hands-dirty chances to practice along the way. Bring your own bike or practice on one of ours.

Bike Repair 101 May 9, 5-7 pm

Hosted by Smart Trips and Tennessee Valley Bikes, the class will be held on Thursday, May 9, from 5 – 7:00 p.m. in Market Square. TVB will lead a free session about basic bike repair skills, and Smart Trips will have information about how to participate in Bike Month contests and win prizes.

Flat Tire Repair Workshop at REI May 15, 6 pm 

Flat tires can impact every rider on every surface. If you want to be ready to fix your next flat, join REI's expert bike techs in this hands-on workshop. From start to finish, you will work through everything you need to know to change a tire and reduce the chances of a repeat flat. Bring your own bike, a busted bike tire, or practice on some of ours.

2019 Tour de Blount May 18, 7:30 am

Once again, four routes with similar mileages will be offered. A post-ride meal will be provided, and at the request of many cyclists, beer will be offered at the finish. Riders will be able to rehash the highs and lows of their rides while enjoying a cold brew.

New for 2019 we are offering a team challenge!! Come do the TdB with all your coolest cycling friends! The team who brings the largest amount of cyclists will be recognized with awesome bragging rights, a discount for the 2020 event and a donation made to Bike Elf in their name! Who can you bring with you to explore East Tennessee? In order to qualify as a team, every member must indicate team affiliation when registering!

Open Streets May 19, 2-6pm

Open Streets Knoxville brings together community groups and local businesses, encouraging the use of active transportation and healthy living, with a goal of giving residents an opportunity to rethink our streets as public space. Join in the fun on May 19th at this FREE event, as we head to Sutherland Ave! Sutherland Avenue will be closed from N. Bellemeade Ave to Division St. People of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to walk, ride bikes, dance, and much more; all in a safe, fun setting! Our goal is to move to new locations with each event, so attendees can explore different neighborhoods. Learn more at
